How will you engage in your statistical inquiry? What formative assessment(s) will you use?  

When you gather your data, you will most likely use some form of formative assessment strategy.  Make sure that you explain why you chose this strategy and how it will help you to better understand what is being learned in the classroom.

What have others done to respond to this sort of problem? Use the resources from this course or any others that you have come across in your practice. 

Write an action plan for how you might enact a change in the cooperating classroom.

(This can be a very small change.)

Please also write your intervention here, so that your classmates can benefit from your research. 🙂

By Saturday, October 23rd, please submit your Research Question and Justification on the website. You can respond to this post or attach a google doc.

SUBMIT: A 300-word description of one of the students in your placement or a student in your life (or an imaginary student). 

SUBMIT: A word problem for the student to solve. You can use this worksheet to help you organize your ideas. Be sure to include the type of word problem that it is and why you choose this type of problem for the student.

Choose one of the following three questions to respond to. (Response due by Saturday, September 4th.)

What preconceived notions do I have about what a high-quality mathematics classroom looks like?  Where do these notions come from?  Whom do they serve? 

What are some obstacles to creating change in the mathematics classroom at the elementary level?  How can these obstacles be overcome or interrupted? 

What did you think about the way that class was structured today?  What shifts can help you learn the content and methods?
