  1. My research question is how can I help students who struggle with math. As a student teacher I noticed that there are a few students who struggle with the subject. Therefore, given that I have limited experience in strategies to help struggling students, I feel that it is my responsibility to learn more about how to support them. In addition, I know that any methods that I learn to support struggling students will help all of my students. This question is important to me because I was one of those students who has always struggled with math. Math has always been very difficult for me to understand. I appreciate the teachers that had patience me. They used different strategies when teaching to help me learn and I hope to do that for my students. I will be focusing my attention on strategies to help struggling students. I could collect data in the classroom by providing the struggling students a survey. The survey would ask them if a particular strategy helps understand a problem better.I could also collect data from my observations in the classroom. Based on the data I can create a graph of the different instructions the teacher gives the students. I would also include how effective they are based on the exit slips she gives at the end of the lesson and how comfortable the students feel doing the classwork. Furthermore, I could look for information from classmates, professors and the textbook. I could also search online.
